Now, here are my favorite products to buy for the beginner painter:
1) Martha Stewart Sponge Pouncers
The Martha Stewart Sponge Pouncers are perfect to paint polka dots on the background of your door hangers! I find myself reaching for these often. You can watch this video to see how I used these sponge pouncers on a turkey door hanger I painted live on Facebook.
2) Graphite Paper
If you’re a beginner painter, graphite paper can give you the confidence you need to paint. I often trace templates directly onto wood using graphite paper. Here’s how I use it for help with hand lettering and stencils. You can find graphite paper here in my Amazon shop.
3) 10 Piece Assorted Brush Set
One thing is for sure when you’re painting, you can never have too many paint brushes. This 10 piece paint brush set in my shop is a great set to get you started painting. There are a variety of sizes and brush types for every need!
4) 12 Pack of Acrylic Paint
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I love DecoArt paints. My collection has really grown over the years. This 12 pack acrylic set is great for beginners! It will provide you with some basic colors to get your collection started.
5) Gettin' Jiggy With It Tshirt

8) Skil Jigsaw
As I create this gift guide for beginner painters, I can’t recommend the Skil Jigsaw enough. I reach for this often as I cut my own blanks. Don’t be intimidated by cutting out your own door hangers! You can find it here at Walmart for a great price.
9) Door Hanger Video Tutorial Set
If you’re a beginner painter, I have some great tutorials in my shop for you! You’ll get all the info and step-by-step directions you need to create a cute door hanger like these. A tutorial would be a great gift basket or stocking stuffer addition! Check out all of my tutorials here in my shop!
